Thank you so much for everything you said, and especially for your comments about AI.

Only when *it* (insert catastrophe here) affects *them* (insert the .05% richest people in the world) will the catastrophe merit recognition (on any level) and/or institutional response. It's exhausting screaming into the void. It's exhausting.

Thank you for TALKING about this. Paradoxically, in this 24 hour news cycle world, a catastrophe that runs for four weeks ceases to be of interest to the media.

Here in Australia the suffering in France has slipped from media attention, and most people I mention it to are not even aware it is happening.

When I get messages from people who were childhood friends telling me that it's not as hot as Australia (it's hotter, in a part of the world which should be much, much cooler than Australia), I know that something has gone drastically wrong. When I get such messages it not only tells me that the news is not getting through, but that they have been so propagandised or so indifferent that they don't understand what these temperatures mean for soil temperature, for wildlife, for vegetation. If a region regularly climbs into the high 30s or even 40s during the dry season, as it as always done in many parts of Australia, then a few extra degrees do make a terrible and dangerous difference but the environment does have a small cushion of adaptations that have existed for hundreds of thousands of years. And I am not at all saying Australia is unaffected by climate change, we are hugely and horrifically affected and have been for decades. Where I grew up is one of the places most affected, it has seen unbelievable fires and floods in the past few years alone - once in 100-year events that now happen routinely. But the very sudden climb here in Western Europe, which has happened in the last six years and then spiked to an extreme this year, is indicative of something going catastrophically and unpredictably awry. This feels like a mini-extinction event, like a minor apocalypse for our communities, and if this is a taste of what is to come, which it is, all of us need to be aware and moving from that awareness.

So disturbing reading your description of what is happening within France. It is frightening. Here in Australia, one of the driest continents in the world, we are being inundated with development applications for water gobbling data centres. Naked greed to use our precious water. Utter madness. Most politicians seem to not comprehend the dangers to us. These climate changes are a legacy and our profligacy. Yet still we have vocal idiots who deny the science of climate change. “Poor fellow my country”

It's unbelievable that data centres are even allowed. AI is a catastrophe in almost all its facets, and should not be in the hands of the general public.

Brilliant, salient and spot on. I’m just reading Bob Brown’s book. Devastating truths.

I feel all of this deep in my bones. We have been experiencing it all in Tuscany for the last decade and I have written about it every summer for ten years, where we live in the dark like vampires during the day and only go out in the deepest night, but I still hear people (who haven't lived through this) saying "that's just a regular Australian summer." Wake up everyone! Check on your loved ones, stay connected to your community, we are in this together.

It's intense. Today I met a woman who is a coordinator for a town on the border with Belgium managing an elderly population of around 20,000 people. She has to check twice a day on a huge number of people during these heatwaves. She has seen three deaths in the past couple of days. Today it is once again 40 here. It has been 35 degrees plus every single day for the past four weeks, before that there was an almost normal week and then before that another heatwave. It's horrible. It bears no relation at all to an Australian summer except perhaps in the inland of South Australia in the desert where people don't live.

Thanks again Hannah for eloquently describing THE TRUTH!

I know for certain that our media is complicit now in keeping us disconnected because if we all joined the dots on what is happening all over the world we would be operating with the right haste and anger and grief xx

thanks for these thoughts and for this on the ground report.

As I write this our temperature here in Montana, USA is going to be over 100 degrees! VERY UNUSUAL this time of year! When we drive into the mountains surrounding our town there are huge swathes of dead pine trees from disease & non-beneficial insects brought by warmer temps in the winter! In other words the beneficial lower winter temps no longer kill off the insects killing our forests! A perverse practice in my mind anyways, is that in so-called winter here where we are surrounded by downhill ski resorts, the snow must be made! Yes, you read that correctly, manufactured snow! We have a perverse way of viewing our environment here in the US! Don’t even get me started on pervasive forest fires caused by extreme heat in the mountains! In a few words, I hear your plaintiff call: “pay attention folks!”

The winters here are now no longer cold enough to kill off numerous animal and plant parasites and funguses - the natural balance is thrown completely out of whack. I imagine the same thing is happening in Montana to your fruit-bearing trees too - it's not getting cold enough for many fruiting plants to set properly. We are in big, big trouble.

I know every word that you say to be true too, here in Minnesota!

hey i found a lot of documents, if people knew “climate” change was for space and water and that their fossile cars are going away due this global pyramid scam (oliver tree died after he told about the partners and central banks fdr crypto implementation). With Nato Space X and Palantir dilaouge why is media just being quiet? I see alot of pedros though.
